History of Knightsbridge in Schaumburg
The Knightsbridge development, with mid-sized to large single family homes, is located on a 40-acre tract of land west of Jones Road, and a ½ mile north of Higgins Road in Schaumburg. This beautiful neighborhood was developed by H.F.S. Construction in the mid-1970s and 1980s. Although it is in Schaumburg, it is surrounded by 3 sides of Hoffman Estates.
The original proposal from developers was $10 million and included 62 single family homes, 32 townhouses and 288 apartments in 4 six story buildings. However, the proposal was rejected by the Village Board. Many of the residents nearby voiced their concerns on the traffic congestion they felt the development would bring. They were more in favor of paying higher taxes than having apartments in the area. The proposal was revised to have 107 single family homes instead.
Knightsbridge has a great location and is minutes away from Woodfield Mall as well as major expressways, parks, dining, shopping, and all the amenities that Schaumburg and Hoffman Estates have to offer.
