History of Kingsport Village in Schaumburg
Kingsport Village, is located east of Roselle Road and has 3 different sections that are all relatively close to one another. Meister-Neiberg, the developer, bought their first piece of land and began building 174 mid-sized to large single family homes on 37-acres. This development was so successful that they ended up buying more land in Schaumburg and quickly began developing other projects in the same area and in neighboring towns, all bearing the connection to the name Kingsport for branding purposes.
Approval was granted in the mid-1970s for this subdivision after builders abandoned earlier plans that would have allowed 710 units including 290 townhouses and 420 condominium apartments in 5 and 6-story buildings.
Meister-Neiberg chose a great location just like they did with their other projects. Kingsport Village is close to shopping, dining, entertainment, expressways, and many other amenities that Schaumburg has to offer including Woodfield Mall. Also, conveniently located is the beautiful Schaumburg Library and the Meineke Recreation Center which is part of the Schaumburg Park District. It is home to one of the park district’s fitness centers and offers many amenities including an Olympic-sized pool with diving boards, slides, park, basketball & tennis courts and a sled hill.
