History of High Point
The High Point subdivision, in Hoffman Estates, is located north of Higgins Road/Route 72 and south of Interstate 90. It features midsized homes with 3 bedrooms to large homes with 4+ bedrooms. This neighborhood was built in the late 1960s by the Hoffman Rosner Corporation, which was formally known as F&S. This company was created by Jack Hoffman and his father Sam with the original purpose to build affordable homes for returning GI’s from the war. Jack Hoffman’s name was voted to be the new town name due to his heavy influence and clear dedication to building the Hoffman Estates community. Not only did F&S build homes around here, but they also built a planned community which consisted of plazas for shopping, office buildings, schools and other buildings that once were a bowling alley and a movie theater.
This subdivision also contains one of the largest parcels of land owned by the Hoffman Estates Park District. Once called High Point Park, its was renamed Joseph L. Fabbrini Park on May 16, 2015 after one of the founding Park District Commissioners. Originally the land was accepted from Hoffman Rosner Corporation in 1967. This beautiful 43-acre park is filled with amenities and contains tennis and pickleball courts, three play apparatus, three baseball diamonds, two soccer fields, basketball court, sand volleyball court, and a parking lot. It also has a retention lake that is used for fishing.
High Point is a quaint neighborhood amidst the busy roads that surround it. There are parks nearby as well as the Hilldale Golf Club which provides a scenic view for those homes whose backyards face it. It is also close to the Hoffman Park District which offers all kinds of programs to those in the community. Not to mention it is close to shopping, dining, highways and local attractions like the Streets of Woodfield and Woodfield Mall.
