Essex Club
Schaumburg
The Essex Club is not a traditional “club” in the sense of a long-standing private institution, but rather a residential neighborhood that reflects the village’s late-20th-century suburban expansion. The community was first developed in the mid-1990s, with construction beginning around 1995 and continuing into the following years. Its emergence coincided with a period when Schaumburg had already transformed from a rural township into a major suburban and economic center, driven by decades of residential and commercial growth following its incorporation in 1956.

The development of Essex Club fits squarely within Schaumburg’s broader pattern of planned suburban neighborhoods built to accommodate a growing population seeking larger, single-family homes in well-connected areas. By the 1980s and 1990s, Schaumburg had become a mature suburb with established infrastructure, business districts, and proximity to major retail and employment hubs like the Woodfield area. Within this context, Essex Club was designed as an upscale residential enclave, featuring some of the largest homes in Schaumburg. Many homes in here are 3,000 + square feet.
